Role Overview

As a Senior Automation Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that customers and patients receive the medicines they need, when they need them. You will lead a team of Automation Engineers and a Support Manager, driving the design, development, and maintenance of manufacturing processes and systems. Your work will help bring medicines to the world faster by leveraging innovative engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Lead, direct, and coach a team of Automation Engineers and a Support Manager. Provide day-to-day operational support, optimization, and troubleshooting for integrated site manufacturing automation systems.
• Data Management: Hire or develop Data Analysts to collect, clean, and analyze large datasets. Develop and maintain data models, databases, and reporting systems. Create data visualizations and dashboards to present findings to stakeholders.
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional and global teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions. Stay updated with current trends and technologies related to process automation and digital manufacturing solutions.
• Strategic Implementation: Apply strategic thinking to select and implement new digital technologies and applications. Ensure systems are secure, supported, and functional, adding value to the business.
• Operational Efficiency: Encourage team collaboration with process and operations teams to deliver operational efficiencies. Deploy and use the IMEx "way of working" for day-to-day operations, problem-solving, escalations, and continuous improvements.
• Compliance and Safety: Focus on Safety and GMP Compliance as operational priorities. Ensure good data management practices (ALCOA) and guide the team in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead and support continuous improvement efforts. Use best practices from IMEx standards for work planning and tracking. Apply cGMP rules and appropriate validation models to software development practices, system upgrades, and capital project implementations.
• Budget Management: Develop and manage department section budgets, including contract maintenance expenses and capital. Liaise with the Digital team for coordinating and implementing relevant automation solutions.
• Project Management: Manage small to medium projects using both internal and external resources for system enhancements or expansions. Investigate and implement new process control technologies. Manage business continuity and disaster recovery plans for automation systems.

Ideal Requirements

• Educational Background: B.S./M.S. in an Engineering Discipline with substantial process control experience
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in automation/digital systems, with experience in batch process control, especially in GMP/Pharmaceutical Industries to ISA88 and 99 standards.
• Technical Knowledge: Expertise in Process Control systems (preferably Emerson DeltaV), Virtualization, Cyber Security, network architectures, IIoT, MES systems (Rockwell Pharma Suite), and digital technologies. Proficiency in computer system validation methodologies.
• Leadership Skills: Experience leading multi-disciplined project teams. Strong teamwork and coaching abilities, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills. Effective planning skills and cost-conscious mindset.
