Insurance Specialist (commodity trading)

About the company

I am working with a leading Chinese commodities trading conglomerate. We are looking for an General Insurance Specialist to join their Singapore office to enhance their transportation (marine, warehouse), freight, property and credit insurance programs.

Responsibilities

  • International Insurance Market Development:
    • Build and strengthen relationships with key international insurance companies and brokers
    • Conduct research and analysis on insurance solutions in freight, property and credit insurance
    • Keep informed on global insurance market trends and development
  • Insurance Strategy & Implementation
    • Develop customised insurance programs in light of the company's commodity trading and mining business activity, mitigating risk related to cargo and counterparty management
    • Enhance and implement existing insurance programs
  • Contract Review & Negotiation
    • Review and assess insurance contract terms and conditions
    • Participate in negotiations, finalisation and renewal of insurance contracts
  • Claims Handling
    • Oversee the submission, tracking and resolution of insurance claims
  • Other additional responsibilities
    • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required by the department

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in the General Insurance industry, with a focus on any of transportation, property or credit insurance
  • Relevant insurance qualifications (e.g. CPCU, CII)
  • Understanding of international insurance market operations, regulations, trends and knowledge of who are the key providers, brokers, products
  • Expertise in insurance coverage structures i.e. contract terms and claims processes
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin to necessary to liaise with Chinese speaking internal stakeholders
